With a delayed restart to grassroots sport after children return to school, the SHC Community Projects team is working hard to ensure local school children can have access to hockey as soon as possible.
With the support of Surbiton HC, SHC Community Projects will be offering school hockey coaching for PE lessons / extra curricular clubs completely free of charge between the school restart date on 8th March and the start of the Easter holidays.
The rationale for this is simple: we know that the delayed restart to grassroots sport outside educational settings is going to disadvantage some young people and particularly those in the state sector. Surbiton HC wants to play an active role in helping to bridge this gap in our local area and we hope this gesture will go some way towards supporting ongoing school sports programmes as we gradually get back to normal.
“Pupils will be so glad to get back to playing sport - I mentioned it in our live lessons yesterday and their faces lit up!”
