We welcomed 43 teams from local primary schools to Surbiton HC for community hockey festivals on Wednesday and Thursday this week.
Over 360 children from years 4, 5 and 6 enjoyed 7-aside matches, with 135 games played across the two days.
The emphasis was completely on participation, enabling children with a range of abilities and experience levels to play together. A number of schools brought entire year groups and there was an exceptional level of team work and effort from everyone who took part – as well as some fantastic hockey on display with silky skills, committed defending and some great goals!
A huge thank you must go to the teachers and parents who helped the day run smoothly as well as our young umpiring team made up of SHC players and regular community coaches.
We are already making plans for further festivals in the autumn term and beyond… watch this space!
